MAGAZINE VISION, ASIA
With his photographs, Berlin-based photographer Stefan Guido Schmidt not only explores the aesthetics of the sixties and seventies. Some images are reminiscent of film scenes, while others seem to have sprung from the fleeting moment.
A mystique pervades them all, through their very essence, through the composition of light and shadow.
One must also acknowledge his refined approach to selecting his subjects, as well as their execution.
For not only his mastery of exclusively natural light, but also his remarkable eye and sensitivity for a highly individual sensuality, which he captures in his photographs, are unmistakable.
He is able to show, in a remarkable way, the uniqueness and individuality of each girl he discovers during his travels around the world, for example, on the streets of Buenos Aires, Ibiza, Bangkok, or Stockholm.
His fascination with the feminine and elfin creature is undeniable.
But his fascination is not limited to the perfection and beauty of face and body. The latest works are above all a tribute to the imagination.
With "THE BEAUTIFUL MIND," the artist describes the beauty of a free spirit. The exhibition showcases works created worldwide between 2004 and 2011 and, after more than six years of production, offers the very first glimpse into the artist's creative process as a photographer.
